The MailScout app connects ChatGPT and Claude to MailScout, our free mailing map. Ask something like “how many homes are in Steinbach, and what would a postcard to all of them cost?” and the assistant looks it up in MailScout and answers with the same numbers you would see on the map.
What it can do
- Find an area — turns a place into MailScout’s areas: Manitoba cities, towns and rural municipalities, postal areas (like R2K), Winnipeg wards, provincial ridings, and school divisions and their wards. Around a neighbourhood or an address, it uses a circle.
- Count homes — households and businesses in the area for each Canada Post service: Neighbourhood Mail (every door on the routes, by houses, apartments, businesses or farms), Postal Code Targeting and Personalized Mail. It can narrow by who lives there, from the 2021 Census: families with kids, seniors, income, homeowners and more. Counts leave out homes that have opted out of unaddressed advertising.
- Show the routes — a map of the Canada Post walks it counted, with each walk’s homes.
- Estimate the cost — printing from our direct mail store’s price list (postcards, newsletters and letters) plus Canada Post postage. It is an estimate before tax; we confirm the total.
- Delivery timing — Canada Post’s delivery standards from Winnipeg, in business days.
- Open the plan — a link that opens the plan in MailScout, where you can see every route, change it and order.

Search for MailScout in ChatGPT’s apps once it is listed there.
What it doesn’t do
- It never shows addresses, names or mailing lists — only totals and route outlines.
- It doesn’t sign you in, see your account, or place an order. Ordering happens on our site.
- It covers Manitoba, where MailScout’s address data is loaded.
- It answers one plan at a time. Results are credited to MailScout by The Standard Press and aren’t for bulk copying, resale or model training.
Your data: the app receives only what your assistant sends to look something up — a place, an area, filters, a product, a quantity. No account, no cookies. Read the MailScout app privacy policy and terms of use.
