MailScout app

MailScout app privacy policy

Effective October 21, 2026. Covers the MailScout app for AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude.

Who we are

The MailScout app is run by WICMA Ltd., operating as The Standard Press, 68 Higgins Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3B 0A5. It is a read-only connection, at https://store.thestandardpress.com/mcp, that lets an AI assistant look things up in MailScout, our mailing map. What the app does · Terms of use.

What the app receives

When your assistant uses the app, it sends us the details of the lookup, and only those:

  • place names, postal areas or map areas (for example a municipality, a ward, or a circle around coordinates);
  • delivery types and census audience filters (for example “houses only” or “median income over $80,000”);
  • a product, its options and a quantity, for an estimate;
  • a destination, for delivery timing;
  • a plan name, if one is given for a MailScout link.

Our server also sees the internet address the request comes from, which is normally your assistant provider’s server rather than your own device.

The app does not ask for, and is not built to receive, your name, email address, phone number, account, payment details or conversation. It sets no cookies and has no sign-in. Please don’t put personal information into a plan name.

What the app returns

Totals only: household and address counts for areas, Canada Post route outlines with each route’s count, estimates, and delivery standards. It never returns addresses, names, mailing lists, customer accounts, orders or anything about other customers. Counts come from Canada Post route data and our Manitoba address data; audience filters use Statistics Canada’s 2021 Census, by neighbourhood.

How we use it and how long we keep it

  • To answer the request, and to watch how the app is used. Each lookup is logged: the tool, the area and filters asked about, the totals returned and the calling internet address (plan names are left out). The log is kept for 180 days so we can see how the app is used and stop scraping or abuse.
  • Plan links. When the assistant asks for a MailScout link, we store that plan — its areas, filters, delivery types and name — so the link opens it. These are kept so that links keep working, and contain no personal information unless one was typed into the plan name. Ask us and we will delete a link.
  • Limits and security. Request counts per internet address are held in memory for up to a day to stop overuse. Our web server’s logs record the time, internet address and address requested (not the contents) and are kept for up to 30 days to keep the service secure and working.

We don’t sell or rent this information, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone except the providers that host our systems, or where the law requires.

Your assistant and our website

Your conversation is handled by your assistant’s provider (such as OpenAI or Anthropic) under its own privacy policy; we receive only the lookups described above. When you follow a link into MailScout on our website, the site works as it does for any visitor, including Google Analytics measurement, and if you sign in or order, your account is handled under the terms you see there.

Children

The app is a business tool for planning mailings and is not directed to children.
